Day-160

The crazy dudes I met yesterday also managed to bail up another few guys from the hostel lastnight, I walked past them in the street but luckily they didn’t notice me as they were too busy yelling about something. When the victims returned to the hostel we ended up having a few drinks and a good laugh about how insane these two guys are.

In the morning I went to catch a bus to the nearby city of Bitola, but instead opted to take a taxi there. The taxis at the bus station round up 4 random people to fill a taxi and charge the same amount as a bus ticket, so I thought it would be more interesting than taking yet another bus.

Also the good thing about the taxi is that it dropped me right at my hostel in Bitola. I hadn’t booked ahead at the hostel, and when I arrived it became apparent that the hostel was undergoing renovations and re naming. The owner seemed cool so I booked in as their first guest anyway.

After exploring the Old Bazar, The main street and walking out to the Herculeum ruins on the edge of the city I sat down to have dinner at a restaurant that the hostel owner recommended which was a Bitola specialty dish. It is simply oven baked cheese with some meat and mushrooms mixed into it with some bread on the side. It was pretty dang good. So good that I decided to post my first photo of food (and also because they charge 5 euros to take photos at the Herculeum). The food here is also dirt cheap, this dish and the beer cost less than $5 AUD.

It’s now its 7pm, I have a huge bottle of beer, a hostel with a roaring fireplace all to myself and two hostel kittens to play with.
