Day-308

More decaying structures! This old greenhouse sits abandoned in Santiago’s Quinta Normal Park and looks amazing amongst the street art covered buildings and museums which are also scattered throughout the park. Thanks to Atlas Obscura we knew this green house was sitting somewhere in the park and we also visited a few of the museums while we were there. We got lucky as we had read that you weren’t able to enter the old greenhouse, but when we arrived the door was open so we went on in to check it out.

After visiting the museums and the greenhouse we went to the central market to get some lunch. The free walking tour guide had recommended one of Santiago’s specialties which is a seafood soup, but as with most of Chile’s food it turned out to be pretty bland and flavourless which was a bit disappointing.

Today we were also forced to leave Santiago because of the music festival, so in the afternoon we caught a bus to the nearby port city of Valparaiso. We were pleasantly surprised to find a really cool looking, grimy, street art filled city with tonnes of character.
