This is one of the old elevators that are scattered throughout Valparaíso which transport residents up and down the steep slopes, saving them from having to climb the many stairs.
Today we wandered some of the street art slathered streets of intending to walk to Pablo Neruda’s House (A famous Chilean Poet who has 3 homes around Santiago now open to the public). We didn’t make it to Pablo’s house but instead got detoured into the nearby graveyard looking for an infamous tombstone without much luck and then checking out the old prison which has now been converted into a cultural centre. Nearby the old prison we also stumbled across an old dilapidated unused water tank which unsurprisingly has now become a canvas for the artists in the area.
We finished off the day at a micro brewery where the barman gave us directions to the correct graveyard which we intend to check out tomorrow hopefully.
