These restaurants can be found on almost every corner around the main streets in singapore. Places like this serve up awesome cheap meals, and usually cheap (for singapore) beer too. This one is just around the corner from where I am couchsurfing at the moment and I just went and had some pretty good fried kuey teow for only a few dollars. Some are mini food courts and have several restaurants in the one open corner building so you have several cuisines to choose from.
Prices are usually between $3 and $5 for basic meals, but when you are talking about something like frog (delicious) or seafood the price jumps up to between $8 to $15 or even more. A can of coke is usually between $1 and $1.30, and a longneck of Tiger Beer is usually around $5.50 (all in singapore dollars).
Remember to bring your own paper towel or serviettes as you usually have to pay 30 cents for a packet and sometimes they dont have any left.
