Day-113

Somehow I neglected to realise I had crossed a time zone when entering Bulgaria which meant that I almost missed the walking tour and didn’t have time to book my ticket beforehand as planned.

The free walking tour was awesome (as has been every other free walking tour in Europe). But afterwards I had to scramble around trying to organise my overnight train (which I wasn’t sure was still running due to track works) and change some currency to British Sterling for the border crossing.

I am currently writing this up on the night train, with my Turkish roomie Emin who is attempting to smuggle a suitcase full of alcohol across the border while I drink some Bulgarian whiskey I acquired before boarding the train.

This is the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Sofia.
