Day-119

Today I was awake before the morning prayer which wakes me every. Single. Morning. TAKE THAT MORNING PRAYER! The reason I was up at five past stupid (five) o’clock was to go Ballooning. A trip to Cappadocia isn’t complete without taking and early morning flight over the valleys, gorge’s and fairy chimneys.

There were a few things that were disappointing about my balloon trip. Our bus got lost trying to find the balloon twice which meant we were 20 mins late. This meant we missed watching them set up the balloon and also missed the start of the sunrise. The trip went for about 50 minutes which was ok, but I ha been told by others that the pilot always lands directly on the back of the trailer (something which he didn’t do on ours).

It was a great experience, but for me it is probably a once in a lifetime thing. Even though it is extremely cheap here compared to Australia for example, for the price you have to pay I just don’t think it is worth doing again. Cappadocia is one of the top locations in the world to go Ballooning so I really don’t see myself forking over the money again when it could be spent on something way more spectacular like skydiving or scuba diving.

After the ballooning I hiked through an amazing valley to the mesmerising Cavusin Castle. On the way up a dog tried to have a go at my ankle which was surprising as all of the stray town dogs so far have been very placid  and friendly. Then after a much needed beer and nap I went out at sunset again in Pigeon Valley

Cappadocia is one of those places you could spend weeks exploring and never get bored but alas I am leaving tomorrow. Where to I am still not sure, but I am thinking Olympos or somewhere on the way there. Then heading up the coast to island hop over to Greece.
