I hired a scooter for the day and it was the first time I had to drive on the right side of the road. I found myself on the left more than once, but luckily there aren’t that many cars around. There is nothing quite like speeding down turkish backroads, without insurance, with the wind blowing through your dreads while wearing a tiny skullcap helmet which is sure to spill the contents of your skull all over the road.
I went to a bunch of different sites, some more rock cave churches and monasteries and spent a few hours at an open air museum. Inside one of the huge cave systems there was a vertical shaft roughly 50 cm wide with foot and hand notches where I had to shuffle/climb my way up about 8 meters sans my bag and camera which wouldn’t fit. If you come to Cappadocia I highly recommend hiring a scooter for the day, it was so much fun. I am really thinking about doing it again tomorrow.
In the evening a bunch of us from the hostel went to explore Pigeon Alley again as the sun was setting. We stumbled across some amazing caves and what seemed to be another amazing church cave.
