Today I finally left Olympos, but wasn’t really sure where I would end up. I tried my luck at hitchhiking up the coast and only got 11km up the road before getting on a bus instead. I was aiming to get to one of a few secluded spots I had been told about near the city of Fethiye but underestimated the time and distance from Olympos. So I ended up staying the night in Fethiye and will aim for nearby Kabak or Faralya (butterfly Valley) after I buy a tent tomorrow.
In Fethiye while walking to a hostel that had been recommended to me I was offered accommodation by a guy on the street and after haggling the room down to the same price as the dorm accommodation at the hostel I was heading to I took him up on the offer (as it is closer to the city centre and I have a private room).
After checking in I took a walk to the cool rock tombs, found some more Tortoise, shot a slug gun with some kids I met near the tombs, climbed the castle ruins with some mountain goats, almost got mauled by some street dogs, and then had a look around the docks and city centre before again bumping into an American couple who I had met on the overnight bus to Antalya, and again at my hostel in Olympos.
Hopefully I will try hitchhiking again when I head up the coast, and probably make sure the distances are more realistic.
