Last night I managed to find a dentist in sofia who spoke english, so this morning after going out to a (late) halloween party with my buddy Yana I stumbled down to the dentist half asleep at 7.30am. After doing some research online I figured I might need a root canal and the dentist confirmed that I did. I didn’t want to wait so she did it right then and there.
I have never had a root canal done before, but just the name makes it sound painful, but in reality it was quick and painless and more comfortable than having a filling done. The procedure was over in about 30 mins, and after paying I went to get an Xray from another clinic down the road.
Surprisingly the whole thing was really simple, fast and cheap. I have to return tomorrow morning and possibly another day to finish it up, but by the time its done it will have only cost me about $150 AUD! I have read that the same in Australia costs more than $1200. As insane as it sounds it was kinda fun and fascinating going to the dentist in another country. My dentist was cute (as are all the women in the balkans) and really lovely. The pain is gone now and also travel insurance will cover all the costs because it was an emergency, so win win I guess. haha.
I also found time to take a walk, see the changing of the guard and some protests. In the evening I met up with a dude that lives in Sofia who my couchsurfing host Darko from Nis, Serbia got me into contact with. We went out for a few beers and two dinners. Oh, and how awesome is my light box 🙂
