Day-167

This is the Monument to the soviet army in Sofia. The park was the target of one of my favourite street art project where the statues were painted as super hero’s, google “sofia superhero statue” to see what I mean. I find it pretty funny that this monument park is now a target for street art, vandalism and has even been turned into a skate park. Back when it was built you would probably be shot for even touching one of the monuments here. Also the obvious signs of capitalism which tower behind the park are pretty funny too.

Before I bussed my way to Belgrade this evening I went for a walk to the Military museum but when I got there discovered it was closed for renovations, so instead I went for a walk to do some street photography and came across this park and several other green spaces of which Sofia has plenty. I really liked Sofia, this was my 3rd time in the city and other than having some dental work done I had a really good time each time I was here. So long Sofia!

Once in Belgrade I went to a couch surfing meet up not far from my hostel and stayed out drinking with a small group of other travellers at some thick smoke filled bars. Mmmm, now I stink like musky smokey bars just like the good old days.
