Day-174

More markets and more bars! Today a couple of dudes who work at the hostel went out to the Chinese market on the edge of Budapest to pick up some things for the hostel so I decided to tag along. The market is in an old industrial estate, the actual market was a little disappointing, but the warehouses and buildings around it were pretty interesting including a strange smoke stack looking building which I really wanted to climb.

After we returned I went and checked out the Central market which is in an old train station about a 30 minute walk from the centre. The architecture of the station is amazing inside and out and there is some pretty good food as well as local produce and the usual market stalls.

I left the market just as the sun was setting (about 4pm here) but wanted to wait until nightfall to take some photos of the nearby bridge and buildings at night time. Across the road from the central market I found a little bar called the “For Sale Pub”. The inside is completely covered with letters, business cards and other random drawings and bits of paper which have been left by customers over the past 17 years.

After a walking back to the hostel along the river I said my goodbyes to the crew I had been hanging out with for the past couple of days/nights as they jumped on a train to Poland. As for me, I think I am leaving Budapest to do a trip to Southern Hungary for a couple of nights tomorrow.
