Today I ticked off all the dirty backpacker checkboxes. I have been in desperate need of doing some washing for a few days but the hostel machines have been broken. I have been re-using the least smelliest socks for the past several days, my shoes are covered in mud from caving yesterday and my dreads are in desperate need of a wash. So today I rectified that and did all the boring travel stuff that is sometimes necessary.
I washed my dreads, dropped my clothes at a laundromat and went to a big shopping mall to buy myself some shoes and socks (as well as some other pairs to peddle to other people in the hostel who are in the same situation). I stupidly withdrew 75,000 Hungarian Forint instead of 7,500 Forint (so $360 AUD instead of $36)! So now I have decided to stay here in Hungary to spend it instead of doing short trips through Vienna and Prague over the next week and a half.
After getting all that crap out of the way I had just enough time to run and catch the free Jewish walking tour with Charlotte who is another Aussie staying at the same Hostel as me (called David Hasslehostel by the way, and even endorsed by him with a signed poster haha). The tour ended at the ruin bar Szimpla Kert so I found myself there for the 4th time in 4 days! So we stuck around for a beer and to check out the decor while there weren’t many people around.
This is Charlotte mashing buttons on the wall in Szimpla which set off random lights, TV’s and hair dryers throughout the room.
