Day-184

10 points to anyone who can guess what this is. Give up, Its a WW2 Flak tower standing in the middle of Vienna City. These towers can be found all around Vienna. Some are falling to pieces, while others have been converted into Cafes, hotels and this particular one near my hostel has been converted into an Aquarium. Most people who come here overlook these strange buildings and just pass them off as some wacky concrete architecture, but as a reader of Atlas Obscura I was well aware what they were, so in the little time I had to get my photo today I sought out a tower to photograph before I left Vienna this morning.

Other than searching out Flak towers most of today was spent riding in a car from Vienna to Munich. The bus and trains from between them are both way overpriced and take ages, so instead I managed to hook up a carshare using www.carpooling.co.uk with a lovely couple who happen to live in Munich. The couple I was riding with were great so the ride was much more enjoyable, cheaper, faster and an overall better option.

Munich gave me a bit of trouble while trying to navigate its metro ticketing system and connections, but I made it to my couch surfing hosts apartment just in time to crack open the bottle of Jack Daniels I found in my bag last night. Ahhhh, Overpriced Jack Daniels from Turkey, flavoured with a hint of Balkan travel.
