Today I went to the Guardalavaca Beach in the back of a cattle truck. Yep, Cuba. The beach is about 45 minutes from Holguin City and the taxis can charge between $3 and $30 depending on your bargaining skills, the local transport cattle truck however only cost about 80 cents. The seats are just long steel tubes with no padding at all, so the shorter the ride the better.
I took a huge walk down the beach and found some interesting landscapes to photograph and had a beach all to myself but I also got eaten by ants, or sand fleas or something which left some weird bite marks on my leg. To get back to Holguin City I negotiated a cheap taxi instead of taking the local transport again so I could actually see to scenery on the way and also take a ride in a sweet vintage car. Once we arrived back to the city the taxi driver tried to scam me by changing the already pre-negotiated price to 10 times the price. I paid him the original fare and was planning on tipping him but changed my mind after that.
For dinner I found another cheap restaurant and then ended up having a few beers with an interesting Cuba-Canadian who is writing a book about Cuba.
