Day-233

This is the view from the Basilica del Voto Nacional which is an awesome massive gothic church in Quito. This photo is looking south towards the Virgin of Quito atop Panecillo hill and tomorrow I plan to climb Panecillo hill to take a photo looking North back towards the Basilica and the Equator. The 360 degree views from the top are totally worth the measly $2 entry fee. It is also possible to climb up through one of the clock towers where you can see the inside and the mechanics of the (broken) clocks. The ladders to get to the top tower are pretty nerve racking and I wouldn’t recommend climbing it if you are afraid of heights.

The rest of the day we spent wandering this amazingly picturesque city, trying to find some more malaria tablets, and organising our 5 day trip to the Amazon which begins tomorrow night with an overnight bus ride! Wippeeee AMAZON!
