So today was split into two distinct halves. The first half of the day involved taking a cable car and then hiking some of the way up a volcano. The second half involved spending hours in the hospital. Fortunately the two aren’t related.
I hiked part of the way up Pichincha Volcano with two Canadians, Bridget and Milan, before we called it quits because to our shortness of breath due to the altitude (4000+ meters). We hadn’t intended to hike to the top, and the views were starting to become obscured by cloud and hills anyway so we weren’t fussed.
After we returned from our half arsed volcano ascent Viv and I spent the entire afternoon at the hospital to get her awful cough checked out which she had had since Cuba and had gotten worse in the jungle humidity. Turns out Vivo has Asthma, which means we may have to extend our stay in Quito and Ecuador even further until it is under control. Its like a little gift from Cuba. Thanks Cuba.
