Day-280

We finally made it to the Incan agricultural laboratory called Moray. The Incans built these crazy rounded terraces in several spots around Peru, however now only 2 remain. The terraces which are shaped like russian dolls, or an avocado, were designed to be able to grow non native plants in areas where they usually would not survive. By putting plants closer to the stones they remained warmer during the cold nights allowing the Incas to grow foods and plants which they would usually only be able to grow in the lower hotter regions. Those crazy Incans.

We also made a stop to the Salt mines on the way to moray which were also huge and epic. The salt mines consisted of thousands of shallow pools which cling to a hillside and when the sun evaporates the water flowing through them they leave behind the salt residue which is then harvested by hand.

Tonight we are finally catching out night bus out of Cusco after an awesome 11 days here.
