Potosi. This is one of the highest cities in the world at about 4000 meters and home to the largest silver mine in the world. The mine has been operating for almost 500 years and is still mined by thousands of people who work as part of independent mining groups. The bus to Potosi took almost 5 hours instead of the advertised 3 hours and we were forced to listen to a salesman on the bus sell dental products in spanish using an obnoxiously loud microphone and speaker, for two freaking hours. It was hell.
The bus dropped us at the edge of town in a hail storm so by the time we made it into town we only had time to organise a tour of the mines for tomorrow and take a quick walk around town before the sun set. Again we have a nice view over the city from the roof of our hostel.
