Day-314

So yesterday was quite a day because “I had my camera stolen”, however many did not clue in to the fact that here in Chile it was APRIL FOOLS day! Mwahahahahaha. Thanks for the concerns, compliments and offers of cameras and donations to keep this project going, however my camera is still with me and I will finish this project come hail or shine, and would use my gopro or phone to finish it if it ever did come to my camera being stolen (touch wood). Anyway this street performer is my last photo from South America, as Santiago is FULL of them and most are extremely talented. This being my last photo from South America is no trick however, because today we say goodbye to South America 🙁

Its been an awesome 127 days traveling through part of Latin America. From the chaotically frustrating, but intriguing Cuba, a short stop in glitzy commercialised Panama, A few weeks in Ecuador and the Amazon Jungle, more than a month through the amazing temples, pyramids and ruins of Peru, a short few weeks in Bolivian mines and salt flats and finally finishing in slightly overpriced but clean Chile over the last 3 weeks or so.

There are definitely things I will and wont miss about South America. I wont miss the constant search for change, I will miss the businessmen having meetings over ice cream, I wont miss the bad Chilean food (cream cheese Sushi included), I will miss the amazing landscapes, I wont miss putting toilet paper in the bin, I will miss knowing the centre of a city is ALWAYS the Plaza De Armas. When I come back to south America I plan to be able to speak Fluent Spanish. Although my limited spanish was enough to get by as a traveller, I would love to be able to speak somewhat fluently when I return.

We are boarding a flight to the USA in a few hours where Viv will fly back to Australia while I continue my travels solo again. I am flying to Toronto, then making my way through Montreal, Quebec, Boston and NYC over the next 6 weeks before flying back to Europe into Stockholm Sweden for a week. From there I will have to weigh up my options (and funds), but hope to continue through Ireland, the UK (again), Germany, Poland, Ukraine (Putin pending), then through to Russia to take the trans Siberian Railway through to China and finish my travels somewhere in South East Asia in about 6 months time. Just in time for the next Australian Summer!

… Well thats the rough plan at this point, but who knows where the wind might blow me this time.
