Day-325

Today I didn’t really explore Montreal, instead I geeked out and made a trip to the outer suburbs of Montreal to pick up myself a Leap Motion! I have been waiting to get my hands on one of these little babies for about 18 months since I first heard about it being developed. The leap motion is kind of like a USB thumb drive sized Xbox Kinect designed for the desktop so you can interact with your computer by waving your hands a handheld object around like a crazy person conducting an invisible orchestra… kind of like in the movie minority report. You can make and manipulate music, play/pause/rewind/fast-forward movies, move 3D objects around, play games, draw in 3D space or develop your own applications to work with it.

I have been contacted by a representative who runs a digital festival in Beijing who want me to create and submit something after they saw my Instrument Mapping projection mapping piece from a few years back. So I plan on using the Leap Motion to develop something while I continue to travel after completing this Project 365. Now I just need my hover board and I’m in the future I always dreamed of.
