Day-332

Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. We finally made it out to the countryside today! We got a late start to the day due to a mix up with the car hire details and getting a little lost on the way, but we finally made it to Mont-Tremblant at around 3pm. After a quick (frozen) lakeside picnic in the snow we began hiking the only trail that is open as of yet.

I was expecting to be hiking a snow cleared path and maybe having to walk over a bit of snow here and there, but the entire 2.5 hour trail was covered in snow. Although the walking trail was compacted enough to walk without having to trudge through knee high snow, one step either side of the path in most places had you buried up to your knees in snow.

I went to Mont-Tremblant with two of braes housemates, SoJu and Maria. Maria being from Columbia had never really hiked through snow either, but SoJu being a born and bred Quebecoisehad obviously mastered the art of snow hiking leaving Maria and I trudging 10 minutes behind in her footprints.

The view overlooking the valley and the frozen lake below was spectacular. We detoured to visit the Mont-Tremblant village briefly before driving back to Montreal which looks like a replica santa elf village.

I decided to take a shot at driving back, which was the first time I had driven a left hand drive car and on the opposite side of the road. Instincts kicked in and it was fairly easy, however I kept trying to change gears and pressing the window buttons, and trying to rest my arm on the gear shifter. Also sometimes the lines on the highways 50km+ outside of Montreal just completely disappear which I later learned was because of the combination of snow, ice, salt and snow plows scraping the paint off over the winter.
