Day-40

So long for now AMSTERDAM!

For the past few days I have been staying on Jaap’s couch. He is an awesome dude that my mate Brae couchsurfed with when he used to live a bit further out of Amsterdam. Nowdays he is studying and living in a crazy huge 30 bedroom student “house” just out of Central Amsterdam. Its pretty much a giant version of the Quarry back home, but with over 2 floors and with 30 bedrooms instead of 9 and covered in grafitti, art and tonnes of detailed drawings of penises from tenants past and present.

I arrived on a Sunday arvo and the house was still partying on from the night before and continued until early on monday morning. There was a DJ set up on the huge balcony, people chilling/drinking in the sun and a group of people filling up a huge inflatable pool in the yard. Everyone that I met there were pretty awesome and I ended up having some great conversations with quite a few people who were all too happy to have me crash their pad. It was a welcome change to the cold, sterile, soulless excuse for a hostel I was staying at just 5 days earlier.

I really wanted to take some more photos of the place and people living there but just got too caught up in hanging out and talking to everyone. This photo is just part of their communal kitchen and probably the least grafittied area of the house.
