Day-44

Decided to do a free walking tour which turned out to be pretty awesome. There is soooo much going on in Barcelona that it is a bit overwhelming and difficult to know where to start so the walking tour was a good starting point. I also did a second free tour just a few hours later called the “Alternative Tour”. We were the very first to go on the tour. It was a little chaotic but suited the topics and time of day etc. The Alternative Tour was all about Barcelona’s underground, street art, politics, protests, uprisings, and anarchists.

This pic was taken in the square called “Plaça de Sant Felip Neri”. A Bomb was dropped here and the a roof of a church being used as a bunker killed about 80 people, mainly children. So after the war it was rebuilt and a kindergarten was built next door. There are still blast impacts on the front of the church which look like bullet holes. The square is the nicest in barcelona, its small and as long as it isn’t lunchtime on a school day then it is really quiet and peaceful.
