Day 135

Today I pointlessly arrived on the greek Island of ios. My scheduled 11.50am Ferry didn’t leave until after 1pm due to the the weather being shite and windy as hell which means by the time I arrived and check in to my hostel it was too late to see anything outside of the main town….

Day 134

Yesterday I pretty much saw most of what there is to see on Santorini via scooter. The only other thing to fill a day here is the day trip to the “volcano”, hot springs and the village on the opposite island, although that didn’t really appeal to me especially after what I had heard. So…

Day 133

Santorini, Greece. The island is the perfect size to explore by motorbike/ATV/scooter so I hired a scooter after having an awesome time doing the same in Cappadocia, Turkey. I circumnavigated the entire Island, went to all the best lookouts, towns and drove from one tip to the other. I also found an abandoned church and…

Day 132

This is another travel phenomena I have never understood, filming everything on a camcorder. Really lady? Are you really going to watch that awesome footage you shot of a cat in a box on Kos Island that time? or better yet maybe you make your entire family watch it along with the 100 hours of…

Day 129

Pamukkale, what an awesome surreal place. I wasn’t too sure what to expect of the popular tourist attraction. I arrived into town at about 3.30pm and after a quick lunch I made my way up the blindingly white hillside. You have to take your shoes off to walk up so your shoes don’t dirty the…

Day 128

After World War 1 The Turkish and Greek governments set about a mass population exchange which involved over 2 million people. In the hills of Karaköy only 9km from Fethiye there was a greek community of more than 2000 people living there at the time the exchange took place. Because of this the entire hillside…

Day 127

This is Butterfly Valley. There are only two ways to reach the floor of this valley which is dwarfed by 350 meter cliffs on each side. The first is to get in by boat, pretty easy and only about $7 AUD for a return ticket. The second and much more adventurous way is to get…

Day 126

Today I arrived in Kabak Valley, a secluded little village at the very end of a road which winds through the mountains and is concentrated in a valley leading down to a small beach. I intended to buy a tent and camp somewhere in the valley, but didn’t have any luck finding one in Fethiye….
